40 – So What!

Many years ago my secretary Monique attended my training course.
When we came to ‘Parental Programming’ she said:
“My mother used to warn me not to jump over the backyard fence when I went to play.
She said I’d rip my pants.”
“What’s your point?” I said, “Did you ever tear your pants?”

“Well, yes I did, and that’s my point. I jumped over that fence for about two years and ripped my pants once. Once in two years. I thought about that and came to the conclusion:
I would rather jump over the fence for two years and rip my pants once, than walk through the gate for two entire years just to avoid ripping my pants once.”

How many things are you cautious about that somehow seem justified because once-in-two-years they could possibly go wrong.

Is it really worth the price you are continuously paying?

What comes to mind that you can give yourself permission to be less careful about?
Remember, it will then go wrong on you.
Once, in two years. So what!
