It always has to add up to 100%

The very first satellite was a simple radio transmitter sending “Beep, Beep” (1%)

It took many huge radio telescopes to track that signal. (99%)

Today we ‘position’ satellites costing multi-billions in the sky. (99%)

And almost any simple television dish can pickup those signals. (1%)

In both cases a certain amount of work has to be done. (100%)

So if you want to succeed at something, (business, family, writing a book, etc.)

either you do the work or the other person has to.

Quite often looking around for something on a web site is too much work.

So I just quit trying.

They obviously did not do the work, so I would have to.

Because it always has to add up to 100%

In whatever situation you are in, if you do not do most of the work (99%)

chances are nobody else will want to.

If things are not working out for you, ask your self how much work you are doing.

Then do enough to bring it to 99%

And just watch how quickly people do the remaining 1%

Tired of planning without seeming to get anywhere?

Then stop doing that.

My three dictums are (in order!)

First, get alive, (Plan A)

Then stay alive, (Plan B)

Now you can refine.

Get everything started / alive, before you spend dis-proportionate time refining.

Then make sure it stays alive, before you spend time refining.

Finally, you can refine.

And then it’s important to do so!

If the kitchen becomes clean-room quality but the dining room has bugs/rats, then refining the kitchen is a waste, no matter how easily you can justify the need. Clean-room is too much in that context.

Getting married, having children and starting a business are usually invisible victims of Refining before getting alive.

If you are stuck somewhere, go back to basics:

First, get alive.

Things from the ‘outside’ (world) influence you. Outside In.

Or are influenced by you. Inside Out.

Obvious. So why say this?

Because those things from the ‘outside’ you don’t want to influence you, can easily be eliminated.

Use your inner understanding of how it is when you – the inner you – are the dominant force. You already do this in many, many things you neutralize so effectively using the inner self to influence the outer world. Inside Out.

If you are doing it for anything at all, it can be applied to everything else.

Usually the length of time something’s been happening implies it would take more than what you have, to change it.

Not true!

You already use your inner self to prevail in those things where you do prevail. Just apply that already successful thinking / attitude, to whatever comes from the exterior and dominates you.

Someone calls to ask you to go out. You don’t want to. Yet you normally give in and go out.

Think of how you influence something you do influence, and apply that to your next invite. See how easily it changes to inner – influencing – outer. And do what you want.

Start with something small and become an Inside Out person.

Once a person asked if I thought he should do Magic full-time.

Since he was asking, and already doing shows and Birthdays, I said “Go for it!”

Several weeks later I asked him, “So, how’s your new business!”

“Oh,” he said, “I was not able to start it.”

Why not?

“Well, I called the city to get a permit to store inventory in my home and they said my area was not licensed for commercial ventures.”

What inventory do you have?

“Balloons and stuff for my Magic.”

Magic happens when you cause people to look somewhere else than where the real action is. Then the event seems ‘magical’ because there is no apparent source to that event.

This person was a Magician because he looked only where he found a reason not to do his business.

As a result, doing business seems magical / impossible.

People perform magic on themselves when they look at only one side of things, and convince themselves what they want to do would take a miracle / magic.

Life is a Magic show when you look at only one side of things.

Magic is not needed when you look at BOTH sides and then decide.

My brother would stay at my place when he came to oversee my business.

On the hour drive we would freely speak with no chance of being misunderstood by others.

As he was extremely smart I always appreciated how he made me think.

Once he said “If a person is good, then you give them a raise and/or promotion.”

I thought about it wondering what was so very profound about that.

A few minutes later he said “On the other hand if they are no good, you give them some money and fire them.”

Again I thought about it, and still nothing.

Then he said “So how come people are good but not that good, and bad but not that bad, and you never quite know what to do with them.”

I smiled and said “Paul, stop talking about you and me.”

That is what reality is all about as compared to thoughts or plans.

Not black and white. Grey.

There’s a saying: If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.

When you believe you have everything planned / thought out, add just one more thing.

Add ‘grey’ to your black and white and you’ll be better prepared for what will happen.
