What does a rough diamond look like? Do you know? I don’t. A man sold his Homestead and wandered the world to return one day only to find fences protecting what was now a Diamond mine. He could not identify what a Rough Diamond looked like. So he sold his place for far less than it was worth to someone who could identify a potential diamond. You are exactly like this.. You cannot identify the aspect of you that is a Rough diamond. You look at yourself and see only ’stone‘. Yet you may well be looking at a Rough Diamond. You wouldn’t know. Because you don’t know what a Rough Diamond looks like. Scour you memory for which things seem unusually easy for you that others find hard. There’s your Rough Diamond. Work on it, polish it. Now look for another one, and another… ————————– These are related: # 21 Interpretation – 51 Hindsight – 64 Natural Talents – 85 Babies – 99 Perfection! – 113 Success 116 Facade – 117 Gold Mine – 119 Gears – 142 Progression – 222 The Difference

243 The 98%
In a very nice hotel while on African safari, there was a sign on my dresser top that said
‚Thou Shall Not Tempt.‘
And I realized that everyone, everywhere are only human.
No matter what you do, 1% of the people will ignore you and take what they want.
At the other end, 1% will never ever take anything that is not clearly theirs, no matter what.
The majority, 98%, will do bad only when bad is possible or good only when good is possible. (ie: war, riots)
Hence, Thou Shall Not Tempt.
You really never can protect yourself from the 1% who will find a way to do … whatever.
You don’t have to with the 1% who never ever would.
So just how much effort are you now placing in the 98% who do nothing unless you first tempt them?
For all practical purposes, the only reality – well 98% of it – is to not tempt.
Just put enough effort in so as to not tempt.
Television reports the 1% who do, and we translate that into:
all people are like that except for vigilant watchfulness on our part.
Yet the actuality is Thou Shall Not Tempt is all you need do. Or not do, if you prefer.

231 Statement
A statement is a close-ended thing.
„I can’t do this.“
A question is open-ended.
‚Why can’t I do this?‘
„I don’t know how to.“
‚How do I learn to?‘
One keeps you where you are, the other gets you where you want to go.
„This is my best.“
„How can I improve?“
„I’ve had enough.“
‚How can I learn to do more?‘
Of course if you are happy where you are, a statement is fine.
If not, next time change it into a question.

228 Automatic
Everyone is equipped with an automatic transmission.
Many gears, ‚automatically‘ changing to accommodate your desire for speed.
You simply need to accelerate a bit before it automatically changes to the next gear.
So, why say this?
We never accelerate lest it become the new reality and we are stuck working 24/7 and lose life’s pleasures.
So we stay in low gear (9 -5 Mon-Fri)
Some work so very hard at the start (University, Professional, etc.)
And then they cruise, but in the next gear up.
We all admire /envy their status and income.
It’s exactly the same even higher.
You just have to rev more at the start and for a longer period.
Then you see the mega rich /successful /powerful people, … playing golf.
Remember your Automatic does not work until you need it to.
Then it’s, well, …Automatic.

227 Long Hair, Short Hair
She promised to give her new child, Susan, what she never got.
Long hair.
Her mother used to always cut her hair „too“ short.
Years later Susan promised to give her new child what she never got.
Short hair.
And you are now promising…
Why not let them (young and old) determine what they want.
