Mental Doodle https://mentaldoodle.com Tue, 23 Sep 2014 19:37:52 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.8.3 421 3D …Thinking https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=3234 https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=3234#respond Tue, 23 Sep 2014 19:37:52 +0000 http://mentaldoodle.com/?p=3234 To see things in 3D each eye must see a slightly different picture. In the real world your eyes are spaced apart so each eye has a different view. Your brain puts the two pictures together to form one 3D image that has depth to it.

Ok, so?

It’s the same for …everything.

The wider the points-of-view are from each other,

The greater the depth of understanding

Whether ‘things’ or ‘thoughts’.

Deliberately introduce yourself to different ideas /thoughts /input.

Not the same input (points-of-view) as you now have.

When you are much older you get that depth.

Why wait?

405 Become Unsane https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=3201 https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=3201#respond Tue, 23 Sep 2014 18:29:22 +0000 http://mentaldoodle.com/?p=3201 Between sane and insane is unsane – the world of the possible.

You currently only believe in predictable possibilities.

Yet one of Imagination’s functions is to create possibilities out of impossibilities

(Think Einstein, Edison, Tesla, etc.)

and that’s where the power and ‘magic’ of your Sub-conscious Mind excels.

Look at yourself in a mirror, what do you see?

A face. It’s familiar to you. You’ve seen it all your life.

Now imagine yourself with longer hair, shorter hair, blonde hair, brunette hair, red hair, green hair, blue hair, polka dot hair, striped hair growing flowers, no hair. Think of yourself growing grass from your head. Mowing it with a miniature lawn mower every day. Imagine your head growing steel wool.

To get luxuriant hair, first see yourself with all variants from which you can choose, then choose luxuriant hair.

Same for a fine automobile. Imagine yourself on a bicycle, on a penny farthing, a unicycle, a tricycle, a motor cycle, a camel. See yourself in a wide variety then see your preference as a greater possibility than a camel, a dogsled, a fighter plane.

Because you brought it within your acceptabilities by creating other impossibilities, you will grasp it.

This works for virtually all things. Increased income, a good relationship /friendship, love, etc.

To repeat! First you must give yourself a wide breadth of options — this is what engages your Sub-conscious — then add the option you wish as the highest probability.

Only then will you get it.

Become unsane.

Mass production of airplanes introduced us to the 3rd Dimension.

Height.

Until then the sayings were:

   * Keep your feet on the ground

   * No more flights of fancy, please!

   * There you go, flying off again

   * Come down from the clouds

Then around 1990 the internet influenced the 4th Dimension

Time.

Less time to learn /discover

To email /communicate

To become ‘overnight’ successes /millionaires. (ie: PSY 2 billion views …in one year!)

OK, so?

Now we approach the 5th Dimension

Essentially, beyond Time.

Instant Manufacturing via 3D Printing,

soon, instant ‘everything’.

Again, so?

Have you given up.

Do you think it’s “too late” for you.

Really?

Then re-read this Doodle

A couple of those below specifically chosen to accelerate you

out of pre-conceived concepts and resulting actions.

It’s dark. No one is there.

Soon a watchman enters and turns on some lights.

Then the orchestra arrives and tunes their instruments.

People start coming in. By ones and by twos.

Eventually everyone is there, seated, anticipating.

The curtains open, the play begins.

It is excellent.

You laugh, you cry.

Then it ends.

Standing ovations all around.

Everyone finally leaves.

The watchman turns out the lights.

It’s dark.

No one is there.

From nothing to nothing.

OK, so?

Because of what you experience in between the nothings, you are more.

Get more involved. Allow more experiences. Hesitate less.

Remember, Life has no remote, you have to actually do it.

The Doodles below are specifically chosen to help do this!

They physically stood there and practiced shooting Basketballs.

Group B also stood there but they only

imagined / thought / visualized / pretended

to shoot baskets.

Group C stood there and did nothing.

Groups A & B improved almost equally (!)

Group C did not improve.

Ok, so?

Everything operates this way.

Always.

Each time you think (see yourself) succeeding

at a specific task / hobby / sport

you actually, in-fact, physically/mentally improve.

Remember Group B.

Of course if you see yourself not succeeding…

Remember Group B.

367 Commitment https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2781 https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2781#respond Thu, 21 Nov 2013 16:19:38 +0000 http://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2781 Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.

Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:

* That the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too.

* All sorts of things occur to help that would never otherwise have occurred.

* A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and material assistance which no one could have dreamed would have come their way.

Whatever you can do or dream you can do, begin it.

Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.

Goethe

Anatomist – Physicist – Historian of Science.

Scientist – Philosopher – Geologist – Botanist

Painter – Novelist – Humanist – Dramatist – Poet

Goethe knew a recorded 50,000 words, twice as many as anyone else.

Each word is a different thought. Imagine the thoughts he could assemble.

Now reread the above!

365 Kitchen Table https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2770 https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2770#respond Thu, 29 Aug 2013 15:40:24 +0000 http://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2770 I learned more around our kitchen table than probably anywhere else.

I memorized more data in “school” of course.

But it’s the Kitchen Table that still seems most ‘authentic’ to me.

Yes, yes, yes… the web, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. are the ‘new’ way.

But most are simply not-kitchen-table.

Facebook is close…

with super personal updates “I just went to the store…”

LinkedIn too… Until they make it more universal.

aka: impersonal, like school: Sit down, be quiet and memorize this data.

OK, so?

Well is your resume just memorized recitals of previous data?

Or more like Kitchen Table.

Just include what you learned while at each job.

Bingo! Kitchen Table.

(If you read resumes, you know what a bonus this is.)

Date ‘hunt’ starts at the local meeting place /bar /dance, etc.

After a bit of ritual the clever ones go into Kitchen Table speak.

And usually end up with a date.

Look around and see where you can add more Kitchen Table.

360 Category https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2740 https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2740#comments Wed, 31 Jul 2013 14:27:29 +0000 http://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2740 Which movie to see?

Which book to read next?

These give variety.

However they are simply variations of the same decision you made long ago.

OK, so?

Possibly you are somewhat bored. (Or getting there.)

Consider changing the actual Category.

A movie instead of a book.

Exercise instead of a movie.

Get mad instead of ignore.

Variety is OK …

however if things are not working out the way you sort of thought they would,

it’s because you re-inforce sameness by choosing variety but forget

they are all in a non-changing Category (Which movie? IS STILL ‘MOVIE’)

rather than choosing a different Category (Try a book. Or a walk. Or a… etc.)

When I change categories the ‘new’ fights with the old ‘familiar’.

Sometimes the new wins, sometimes the familiar.

However I am far more interested in life now than ever before.

New food ‘categories’ too.

339 Three Voices https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2666 https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2666#respond Thu, 04 Apr 2013 13:22:08 +0000 http://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2666 Here is a technique I find very useful for me.

I created three ‘voices’ in my head:

Voice 1 always tries to agree with me

Voice 2 tries to never agree.

Voice 3 is the contrary one.

So if  — at noon — I make a strong statement “It is daytime now.”

Voice 1 says “Yes, of course.”

Voice 2 says “Yes.”

Voice 3 says “In some parts of the world only.”

And, if  — at noon — I say “It is night now.”

Voice 1 says “No.”

Voice 2 says “No.”

Voice 3 says “In some parts of the world only.”

This works very well when I am not sure of what my decision should be.

I simply make a strong statement and then listen.

Having Three Voices, each with their particular point-of-view, almost always gives me insight and clarifies the situation.

Try it!

327 Rejection https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2617 https://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2617#respond Thu, 28 Feb 2013 16:54:05 +0000 http://mentaldoodle.com/?p=2617 A rejection becomes relevant only when your action /non-action makes it so. If everyone agreed with the rejections of so-called experts, how would this world now be.
(I was up to several pages after only an hour of searching!)

– His teachers’ opinion: too stupid to learn anything. THOMAS EDISON (1,300+ inventions)

– Protest with all our strength and indignation, against the erection of this useless and monstrous EIFFEL TOWER

– “Can’t act. Slightly bald. Can dance a little.” FRED ASTAIRE

– Decca Record executive, “We don’t like their sound.”  BEATLES

– ‘It has too many shortcomings to be seriously considered as a means of communication.’ TELEPHONE

– ‘It does not meet the fundamental technical requirements of a motorcar.’ VOLKSWAGEN

– ‘No flying machine will ever fly from New York to Paris.’ ORVILLE WRIGHT

– Rejected 27 times. DR. SEUSS

– “The Twilight Saga” 9 rejections

– Her first Harry Potter novel, 12 publishers rejected it.

– First novel, 20 rejections. AGATHA CHRISTIE (sold four billion copies!)

A rejection becomes relevant only when your action /non-action makes it so.
