I realised that in my determination to be the ’skeleton‘ instead of the scaffold (if that analogy makes sense), I was fulfilling my own need to be needed, and need for recognition. Of course what often happens is that one gets taken for granted, and the lack of recognition leads to feelings of resentment. More importantly the people I cared for weren’t learning to stand on their own two feet. It’s wonderful to see this ‚golden nugget‘ again and recognise how much I have changed.
