How do you (or anyone) show your personality?

Your words carry /broadcast only 10% of your personality.

Your Tone of Voice shows 35%

And your Body Language 55%

Ok. So?

Now that we are mostly communicating through emails, Twitter, Facebook and such…

where is your personality showing?

Saaay, you don’t think you are getting things done just by your words themselves, do you.

Say this:

I didn’t say he stole the money.

Using just words with no tone of voice this sentence has over 10 separate meanings /messages! (see # 147) Determining which one depends on your Tone of Voice.

I didn’t say he stole the money

I didn’t say he stole the money

I didn’t say he stole the money

etc.

Yet when sending email we transmit in the most basic form imaginable.

No Type style, no point size, no exclamations, no spacing, no italics, no underlining…

nothing that gives the reader a clue as to what “Tone” you want to add to what you say.

Is this your intention?

Because these forms of communication are simply not going away.

YOU have to change (gasp!!) if you want to improve your results using these basic tools of everyday life.

Practice, practice, practice just like you did with everything else in your life.

The excuse “Computers are new to me” will soon no longer

work.
