24 The Wedge

Ein Keil hat 2 Seiten: eine dicke und eine dünne. Und welche Seite Du nutzt, entscheidet über Deinen Erfolg. Nimm etwas, das Du gerne erledigen möchtest oder solltest aber irgendwie kommst Du einfach nicht dazu… weshalb ist das so? Du schaust den Keil von der dicken Seite an! Das heißt, Du denkst, dass Du alles-auf-einmal-machen musst! Also denkst Du nicht mal dran, anzufangen, bis Du alles–auf–einmal- machen kannst. Und so kommst du einfach nie dazu, Dinge zu erledigen. Dreh mal den Keil auf die dünne Seite! Das ist es! Das ist alles, was zu tun ist. Fang einfach langsam an! Wenn Du z.B. Ein Zimmer sauber machen „sollst“, dann beginne mit einem kleinen Teil, mach eine Ecke oder nur das Regal sauber. Oder Du solltest Formulare ausfüllen oder einen Bericht schreiben – na ja, nimm doch einfach die Papiere, setz Dich irgendwo hin und starr sie an. Und dann, weil Du sowieso schon da sitzt, könntest Du auch einen Kugelschreiber in die Hand nehmen. Aber denke nicht, dass Du nun alles-auf-einmal-machen musst und – uups, verflixt – dafür habe ich jetzt leider keine Zeit, also lege ich es wieder auf die Seite! Wie gewöhnlich! Erledige den kleinsten Teil zuerst. One’s thin, the other, thick. Which side you use determines your results. Take something you want to do, or ‘should’ do, but somehow, haven’t got around to doing, …well, why not? You’re looking at the thick side of the wedge! This means you think you have to do-it-all-at-once. You don’t even bother to start until you can do-it-all-at-once. And you don’t get around to doing things. TURN the Wedge around to the thin side. That’s it! That’s all there is to ‘doing it’ Starting off slowly. If you ‘should’ be cleaning a room, start by tidying up some small part. Or if you ‘should’ be filling out a form or report, take the paper, sit somewhere and stare at it. Then, seeing as you’re sitting there, might as well get a ball-point out. BUT do NOT think (the thick side) that you’re going to do-it-all-at-once, and, oops, darn, but I don’t have time now, so I’ll put it off for later. As usual. Do the smallest part first. Prenez quelque chose que vous voulez faire ou que vous ‘devriez’ faire mais que vous n’avez pas encore fait,… alors, pourquoi pas? Vous regardez le côté épais du coin! Ça signifie que vous pensez que vous devez tout-faire-en-une-seule-fois. Vous ne songez même pas à commencer jusqu’à ce que vous pouvez-tout-faire-en-une-seule-fois. Et vous n’arrivez pas à faire quoi que ce soit. TOURNER le coin du côté mince. C’est tout ce dont vous avez besoin pour

le faire. C’est tout! C’est tout ce que vous avez à faire. Commencez lentement. Si vous ‘deviez’ nettoyer une chambre commencez par nettoyer une petite partie. Ou si vous ‘deviez’ remplir un formulaire ou un rapport, prenez le papier assoyez-vous quelque part et contemplez-le. Alors, en constatant que vous êtes assis-la, aussi bien prendre un stylo. MAIS ne pensez PAS (côté épais) que vous allez tout-faire-en-une-seule-fois, et, oops je vais le mettre de côté en me disant que je n’ai pas le temps maintenant, je le ferai plus tard. Comme d’habitude. Commencez avec la plus petite partie en premier.
