In a very nice hotel while on African safari, there was a sign on my dresser top that said
‘Thou Shall Not Tempt.’
And I realized that everyone, everywhere are only human.
No matter what you do, 1% of the people will ignore you and take what they want.
At the other end, 1% will never ever take anything that is not clearly theirs, no matter what.
The majority, 98%, will do bad only when bad is possible or good only when good is possible. (ie: war, riots)
Hence, Thou Shall Not Tempt.
You really never can protect yourself from the 1% who will find a way to do … whatever.
You don’t have to with the 1% who never ever would.
So just how much effort are you now placing in the 98% who do nothing unless you first tempt them?
For all practical purposes, the only reality – well 98% of it – is to not tempt.
Just put enough effort in so as to not tempt.
Television reports the 1% who do, and we translate that into:
all people are like that except for vigilant watchfulness on our part.
Yet the actuality is Thou Shall Not Tempt is all you need do. Or not do, if you prefer.

# 40 So What!
