If you touch a hot stove you quickly pull away. With some damage to yourself. Small maybe, but it is damage. What if that memory hot-stoves-burn was not kept? Then you’d likely place your hand on a hot stove ‘once again’. And again your Body-Mind jerks you away. With some more damage. And if you never remember hot-stoves-burn you end up doing it over and over again. There’d be no reason not to and a curiosity to do so. Eventually your hand would be badly damaged and still you’d have no memory /idea that the stove /heat causes this. You never erase memories that keep you alive. And basically all your memories to date have
kept you alive. That’s why you’re not quick to change your mind. The solution is so simple people dismiss it. It’s a concept called ‘AND-AND’ We normally think EITHER-OR. Either I take this part-time job or I stay home with the kids. Either I save my money or I spend it. You’re with me or against me. Decide. With AND-AND I can take this part time job and have more quality time with my family. I spend money to improve things and save on future operating costs. I’m with you sometimes and not with you sometimes. It depends if you’re doing something I agree with. Add AND-AND to your way of thinking and increase your success. ————————– These are related: # 3 Cumulative Knowledge – 50 Limits – 63 Free Will – 66 Opposites – 90 Good/Bad 96 Habits – 97 Variety – 103 Ring /Knock Part 2 – 105 Silent Additions – 120 Give & Take
George, This is a GREAT teaching of yours! I heard it from you years ago and say it to myself frequently when I find myself feeling as though I HAVE to choose between two things. “Why not enjoy both?” I ask myself, and then I proceed as if I will. A great, freeing concept. –Thanks!
This is such a basic teaching, and I must learn it over and over and over…. perhaps at 94 I’ll have learned this leason. THANKS GEORGE, for reminder. I have 40 years to work on it to learn before then.
