226 Assertiveness

Taxi drivers in New York City are a realistic bunch.

To drive in one of the busiest cities in the world, you do what works.

And what doesn’t waste time. Or unnecessary motion.

They signal their intent to change lanes and then proceed to do so.

Yes there are cars in the other lane,

however the Taxi Driver presumes they will move to accommodate him.

And they do.

So what seems like near misses are really not.

(See Bombay drivers for near perfect orchestration!)

I recently introduced two people via email.

Both had ‘reasons’ not to assert themselves on each other.

After a nudge, they now do business.

Assertiveness is effective and acceptable.
