Do it

144 Monkeys

“George, with your ability to create Personal development training Seminars and my contacts with Hollywood stars, we can make a fortune.
Actors have plenty of time between movies.
Design a 30 day course and then I’ll contact people to take it.” (Monkey on my back!)
“Great!” I replied. “Get me just one name to have an idea who I’m designing for.” (Monkey on his back)
I never heard him mention that idea again.

“Boss, I have an idea to improve sales but I need you to access the computer files. They are restricted at my level in the company. (Monkey on Boss’s back)
One week later… “How’s my computer information coming, Boss?” (Monkey still on his back!)
Had he suggested the employee start working on the idea (Monkey on employee’s back!) and show him that, the Boss would have placed the Monkey where it ‘belonged’.

I ended up doing a lot of work because I thought my only option was yes /no, and I can’t say no. However as you see above, there is a way of reversing things so the other person has the onus and not you.
Without saying ‘no‘.
