165 Cause & Effects

Picture this:

You are in an expensive car headed towards a cliff.

Your family is in the car with you.

You have priceless documents in the car.

And you cannot stop from going over the cliff.

You and your family will die, the priceless documents will be lost forever, etc.

This is without doubt a great disaster with many bad effects.

Yet the actual cause is Brake Fluid.

Simply a lack of brake fluid.

You have been in the dark for many years.

You can recite all the things that happen when you cannot see.

How you stumble, hit objects, go slow, etc.

Yet rather than illustrate the past to show you cannot see or justify your actions (“What do you expect from a person in the dark?”) you could just decide to turn the light back on.

Once again, extensive effects do not mean the cause is as complicated.

Put a pebble, … in your shoe.

One cause, many, many effects!

Next time you’re having difficulty, first look for the cause rather than at the effects, no matter how many there are.
