We all understand the idea of bribery.

It helps smooth the way, Grease the wheels, Oil the machinery, etc.

Ok so?

Well, there are many, many other ways to do this.

A smile,

A joke,

A rest break,

A change of subject, etc.

All of these help smooth the way.

If you have trouble getting things done easily

maybe you need to ‘bribe’ those around you…

with a smile, a break, a joke, etc.

Note: Last week in Dalian, China, I put my shoe and my watch on the table while negotiating.

I made my point and reduced the tension at the same time.

True, that takes some practice, but it does show the idea above is valid.
