Do it

A friend of mine was overly attentive with people.

One day he fainted in front of a group visiting him.

He ended up in the hospital, severely dehydrated.

The next two days he had a lot of visitors. And could not move or leave the bed.

He could not ‘accommodate’ them nor anticipate their needs.

Yet every one of them showed a genuine concern for him.

Unmistakably genuine.

He realized people like him because they, well, … like him.

And NOT because he’s attentive, or anticipates their needs or whatever else he ‘always’ does when with others.

What a realization of the trap he was in, regarding others!

Are you doing things because you believe it’s ‘expected’ of you or because people would not like you just for who you are and really do not want to be with you unless you do these things?

Might as well find out now.

Stop ‘accommodating’ … then, when people are with you, you’ll know for sure they are with you.
