Do you know how to kill a frog? Most people think by placing a frog in boiling water you can kill it. But it just jumps out. The way to kill a frog is to place it in ordinary water and heat it so slowly there’s never a time when the change is so dramatic the frog makes a decision. It simply stays and boils to death. Having a job /marriage where conditions deteriorate every year or your income doesn’t match the economy, or progress is so slow you never do something about it… That’s how you kill a person! Step back and take a look at those things you’re not satisfied with. How did they get there?
One bit at a time. One action at a time. One decision at a time. One drink at a time.
Now is the time for you to take a great step in that situation. Enough of justifications that say, “I’ll give it more time and something will change /happen.” No it won’t. It’s a new day. It got here one second at a time. Take one thing that you want to change and do it now! It’s OK to ‘overreact’ just once. It won’t be, but from your view — too much patience — it’ll seem that way. ————————– These are related: 1 Ferris Wheel – 3 Cumulative Knowledge – 22 Attitude – 30 Ever-changing Relationships 31 Being at-Cause – 35 One + One = Two! – 48 Saying No – 50 Limits – 59 Hesitation 71 Nice – 102 Response-ability – 103 Ring/Knock Part 2
